Investment Team & Organization

The Ranger Investment team employs a collaborative approach to the management of the firm’s Small and Micro Cap investment strategies. The majority of decisions, including stock selection, are made as a team; however, if a consensus cannot be reached, the Portfolio Manager has the ultimate decision-making authority and oversight for each strategy.

Conrad Doenges

Chief Investment Officer & Portfolio Manager

Mr. Doenges joined Ranger Investments in 2004 as Chief Investment Officer & Portfolio Manager and is responsible for overseeing the firm’s entire investment process, from its bottom-up, fundamental research activities and portfolio construction processes to its risk management function. Mr. Doenges also has primary research responsibility for consumer discretionary, consumer staples and producer durables companies.
Investment Industry Experience: 33 years
Graduated: Mr. Doenges earned a B.A. degree in History from Davidson College in 1988. Mr. Doenges served as student body president of Davidson College.


Andrew F. Hill

President & Portfolio Manager

Mr. Hill serves as a Portfolio Manager for Ranger Investments, a position he has held since April 2003. His primary research focus is on financial services, oil and gas, and energy.
Investment Industry Experience: 26 Years
Graduated: Mr. Hill earned a B.A degree (Phi Beta Kappa) in Economics from Vanderbilt University in 1996.


Joseph T. Labate

Managing Director & Portfolio Manager

Mr. LaBate serves as a Portfolio Manager for Ranger Investments, a position he has held since November 2002. His primary research focus is on healthcare and producer durables.
Investment Industry Experience: 26 Years
Graduated: Mr. LaBate earned a B.S. degree in Finance (Cum Laude) from Siena College in 1996 and an M.B.A. degree from Southern Methodist University in 2002.


Devin Holland

Senior Analyst

Ms. Holland joined Ranger Investments as an Associate Trader in July 2015. She added research responsibilities to her role in 2020 and was promoted to Analyst in August 2021. Ms. Holland has research responsibility for the consumer discretionary and consumer staples industries and supports the investment team through internal reporting and portfolio analytics.

Graduated: Ms. Holland earned a B.A. degree in Political Science (Cum Laude) from Davidson College in 2015.


Kevin Zhu

Senior Analyst

Mr. Zhu joined Ranger Investments in March 2021. His primary research focus is on industrials, materials and business services. Prior to joining the Firm, Mr. Zhu served as an Investment Analyst for Lunia Capital, a long/short equity hedge fund where he was responsible for fundamental research on the business services sector. From 2018 to 2020, Mr. Zhu was a Partner at Rich Vast Group, a real estate investment firm focused on distressed developments in China. From 2015 to 2017, Mr. Zhu served as an Investment Associate for Citadel’s Surveyor Capital strategy, covering technology, media, and telecommunications. Mr. Zhu started his career in 2012 as an Investment Banking Analyst at Guggenheim Securities where he focused on mergers and acquisitions in the media and consumer retail sectors.

Graduated: Mr. Zhu earned a B.S. degree in Economics, Cum Laude, with a concentration in Finance from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

Brown McCullough

Director & Portfolio Manager

Mr. McCullough serves as a Sector Manager for Ranger Investments, a position he has held since February 2015. His primary research focus is on technology.
Investment Industry Experience: 19 Years
Graduated: Mr. McCullough earned a B.A. degree in Religious Studies from University of Virginia in 1998, and an M.B.A from the Stanford School of Business in 2004.


Jeff Dalton

Manager of Sustainable Investing & Risk Analysis

Mr. Dalton joined Ranger Investments full-time in January 2020 and serves as Manager of Sustainable Investing & Risk Analysis. From 2013-2020, Mr. Dalton served as a Risk & ESG Consultant to the Ranger Investments team. His primary research focus is on risk management, sustainable investing and ESG.

Graduated: Mr. Dalton earned a B.S. in Economics from Texas Christian University in 1998.


Brian Busby

Head Trader

Mr. Busby joined Ranger Investments as an Associate Trader in 2003. In 2005 he was promoted to Head of Trading operations. Mr. Busby is responsible for supporting the Investment team by performing statistical analysis and portfolio analytics.

Graduated: Mr. Busby earned a B.B.A. degree (Magna Cum Laude) in Finance from Southern Methodist University in 2003.


Soham Dhar

Associate Trader

Mr. Dhar joined Ranger Investments as an Associate Trader in August 2021. He assists the trading desk through execution management, internal reporting, and analytics.
Investment Industry Experience: 1 Year
Graduated: Mr. Dhar graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in May 2021 with a B.B.A. in Finance with a concentration in Investment Management.

Operations and Client Service


Ranger Investments operations and client service colleagues enable Investment team members to focus on important portfolio management decisions, research, security selection and risk management responsibilities with minimal administrative interference. Activities the operations group manages include accounting and finance, legal and compliance, information technology and human resources.

Similarly, the client service group administers all investor relations responsibilities to help ensure current and prospective clients receive a quality experience. Promptly responding to investor requests, disseminating monthly statements and quarterly reporting as well as facilitating client communication with investment and operations team members are a number of the activities the client service group oversees.
