Investment Team & Organization

The Ranger investment team employs a collaborative approach to the management of the firm’s investment strategies. The majority of decisions, including stock selection, are made as a team; however, if a consensus cannot be reached, the Portfolio Manager has the ultimate decision-making authority and oversight for each strategy.

W. Conrad Doenges

Portfolio Manager

Mr. Doenges joined Ranger in 2004 as Portfolio Manager and is responsible for overseeing the firm’s entire investment process, from its bottom-up, fundamental research activities and portfolio construction processes to its risk management function. Mr. Doenges also has primary research responsibility for consumer discretionary, consumer staples and producer durables companies.
Investment Industry Experience: 27 years
Graduated: Mr. Doenges earned a B.A. degree in History from Davidson College in 1988. Mr. Doenges served as student body president of Davidson College.

Andrew F. Hill

Sector Manager

Mr. Hill serves as a Sector Manager for Ranger, a position he has held since April 2003. His primary research focus is on financial services, oil and gas, and energy.
Investment Industry Experience: 19 Years
Graduated: Mr. Hill earned a B.A degree (Phi Beta Kappa) in Economics from Vanderbilt University in 1996.

Joseph T. LaBate

Sector Manager

Mr. LaBate serves as a Sector Manager for Ranger, a position he has held since November 2002. His primary research focus is on healthcare, producer durables and materials.
Investment Industry Experience: 19 Years
Graduated: Mr. LaBate earned a B.S. degree in Finance (Cum Laude) from Siena College in 1996 and an M.B.A. degree from Southern Methodist University in 2002.

Devin Holland

Associate Trader

Ms. Holland serves as an Associate Trader for Ranger, a position she has held since July 2015. Ms. Holland also supports the investment team through internal reporting and portfolio analytics.
Graduated: Ms. Holland earned a B.A. degree in Political Science (Cum Laude) from Davidson College in 2015.

Brown McCullough

Sector Manager

Mr. McCullough serves as a Sector Manager for Ranger, a position he has held since February 2015. His primary research focus is on technology.
Investment Industry Experience: 17 Years
Graduated: Mr. McCullough earned a B.A. degree in Religious Studies from University of Virginia in 1998, and an M.B.A. from the Stanford School of Business in 2004.

David Granik, CFA


Mr. Granik joined Ranger as an Analyst in September 2014. His primary research focus is on industrials (transportation, manufacturing and materials), as well as media and telecommunications.
Investment Industry Experience: 7 Years
Graduated: Mr. Granik earned a B.B.A. degree (Magna Cum Laude) in Finance from Pace University in 2001 and an M.B.A. degree from University of Michigan in 2014. Mr. Granik is a Fulbright Scholar and a CFA® charterholder.

Brian Busby

Head Trader

Mr. Busby joined Ranger as an Associate Trader in 2003. In 2005 he was promoted to Head of Trading operations. Mr. Busby is also responsible for supporting the investment team by performing statistical analysis and portfolio analytics.

Graduated: Mr. Busby earned a B.B.A. degree (Magna Cum Laude) in Finance from Southern Methodist University in 2003.

Operations and Client Service

Ranger’s operations and client service colleagues enable investment team members to focus on important portfolio management decisions, research, security selection and risk management responsibilities with minimal administrative interference. Activities the operations group manages include accounting and finance, legal and compliance, information technology and human resources.

Similarly, the client service group administers all investor relations responsibilities to help ensure current and prospective clients receive a quality experience. Promptly responding to investor requests, disseminating monthly statements and quarterly reporting as well as facilitating client communication with investment and operations team members are a number of the activities the client service group oversees.
